Affiliate disclosure and how we make money

Every guide on this site is free and will stay free. Here is exactly how the site is funded, so you know before you click anything.

1. Advertising

We show ads served by Google AdSense. We don't pick the advertisers and we don't earn more for recommending any of them. Ads are labeled, and you can manage personalized-ad settings through Google's consent tools.

2. Affiliate links

Some guides (mainly in the flights section) link to no-win-no-fee claim services such as AirHelp or Compensair. If you file a claim through our link and it's accepted, that company pays us a commission. It costs you nothing extra: you pay exactly the same fee you would pay by going to their site directly.

We always explain the free, do-it-yourself route first. We recommend these services because they only get paid if you do, but they keep 25–35% of your compensation, and we say that next to every link.

In line with the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255), links that can earn us a commission carry a note saying so.

3. Partner referrals

If we ever offer a "free case review" form that sends your details to a partner (for example, a consumer attorney), the page will say so before you submit anything, the partner will be named, and their terms will be shown to you before you agree to anything.

What we never do

• Charge you for any guide, template, or referral.
• Sell your personal information, or share it with anyone you haven't chosen.
• Hide that a link is an affiliate link.
• Take a cut of unclaimed property. Searching and claiming unclaimed money is free through your state; the only links we provide for that are official government sites.
